The Phantom Potion
Josh was the worst temp we’d ever had in the office. He was always late, disorganised, dishevelled, and was so dumb he could barely put two and two together. My colleagues wanted to send him back to the agency, but I had a better idea.

Josh reminded me a lot of the person I used to be...before the Phantom Potion. I still had a small amount of the potion left after all these years, and something about Josh made me think he was the right person to use it on.

I would slip a drop into his coffee every morning, and then watch quietly, day by day, as he transformed before my eyes. Within just a few weeks his gangly body became fit and muscular; his acne ridden face became smooth and attractive; his haphazard dress sense became that of a fashionista; his lack of smarts replaced by a sharp intellect; and to cap it all off, his once droopy and unconfident demeanour became that of a charming and confident salesman.
Now Josh was the office hottie – impressing my colleagues with his business acumen, schmoozing clients with his slick sales talk, and flattering everyone around him with his charming smile. It didn’t take long before he was offered a permanent position, and I took him under my wing despite knowing that he was already eyeing my chair in the office.

Despite all this, I could tell that he was still confused about how and why these changes had happened to him. One evening, we were working late, and I finally revealed to him the truth about the potion. He thanked me there and then in a way that I will always be grateful for.
